How to fit window film
Thursday, October 1st, 2009Instructions: from Abode Window Films
1. Thoroughly clean the window. Go over the entire window with the scraper and a window cleaning solution to remove all loose particles, fibres, paint spots and irregular putty lines and produce a perfectly clean, grease-free window with straight edges.
2. Carefully measure the window and add a few millimetres extra. Cut the film to size using the grid on the backing paper for guidance.
3. Spray the window with a fine mist of the detergent solution.
4. With the help of your assistant carefully peel off the backing paper and generously spray the adhesive side of the film with a fine mist of detergent solution.
5. Holding the top two corners of the film apply the sticky side of the film to the window.
6. Manoeuvre the film into position and lightly press in place.
7. Starting from the centre, gently run the credit card over the film, towards the outer edges. All the solution and air bubbles should be removed. If not, run the card over the film again.
8. Trim any excess film with a craft knife. Run over the film again with the credit card.
9. The film should be thoroughly dry and fixed within 24 hours.
10. If any bubbles re-appear, simply prick them with a pin and go over the film again with the credit card.
